Update Sep 8th. Twice a day they eat chicken and practice sitting up, coming when called and patience.
They are very sweet and Footsie and Angelo have become quite close. They are similar in size and activity level. Romero/Romeo is slower to gain weight and prefers sitting in my lap. He also enjoys being carried around the house helping me with everyday tasks. Romeo is also quite a lover of the laptop keyboard. He has a way about him.. what a sweetie.
Names changed. 8-19
I've decided to change the kittens' nick names.
Footsie is the little girl. She is passive, an observer, very sweet and tired of being around her boisterous brothers. She is most attached to mother Stella.
Romero and Angelo are the twin tabby males. I call them Italian names and they are more fitting to describe the amorous and affectionate personas. When I enter their room they hug my pantleg and then roll over onto their backs.. very dramatic.. wanting to be picked up. When I pick them up they go limp like noodles.. head thrown back and eyes half closed. I kiss their tummies and hug them closely..
When in the living room they run furiously throughout the maze of chairs and end tables, boxes and shoes. Angelo is slightly more assertive and has more stamina to bat and chew at the feather wand toy. His brother is smarter and more conservative .. perching on a box where he is able to just bite the feather tip of the wand toy and attempt to depart with it secretly.
Uncle Novinka is doing a great job with the kittens. They are playing with him constantly and he usually ignores them.. Angelo likes to bat at Novinka's face but he gets no response. Novinka lets out a cat chirp.. and throaty trill sound .. kind of like he is sucking in air and sighing in disgust at the same time.
The kittens generally are still small... probably half a pound undersize which is a lot at this age. They all have a good appetite but there wasn't much nutrition early on from Stella.
These kittens will be spoiled and Angelo will be a troublemaker.. probably he will need a firm hand to learn manners when he is 5-7 months old. .. and he will need lots of toys and exercise .

Nine weeks old, and Uncle Novinka moves in...
Here are photos of 9 week old cute tabby males and one tortie girl in video below. They are growing slowly but surely. The lynx female was deemed to need one on one care so she went (as a gift) to live with my friend and be pampered. This week the kittens will be spending more time away from mama, having their first vet exam and Fvrcp vaccines. Uncle Novinka has moved into their room to help ease the transition away from mama Stella. Novinka can be seen here on his new tablecloth. He is a 6 year old neutered male who is often called upon to help raise kittens and he actually enjoys cleaning their ears and sleeps with them in his basket. He exudes confidence and if highly affectionate. His knack for getting on the table is also being copied unfortunately.
Slideshow: 9 weeks.
Short video of "Vina" aka "Footsie", the tortie girl below.
She is so relieved to finally be away from her brothers if only for a few minutes. ....
Update July 13th! Four plus weeks old.
The babies are slightly smaller than normal at this particular age. Their mom has a long frame and and tends to be lean when she is in heat and nursing. These kittens are lean and active. The personalities are emerging.
I took photos in pairs.. the males first. Again I gave them a face wash right before the pics and they had been sleeping so they are not very showy and fluffy. The kittens will have a thinner, easy care coat when adults and I expect the males to be less than 15 pounds although this is just a guess. Here are Tyomnii and Matvei below the two black mackerel tabby boys. They adore being kissed and like to sleep on my chest. Today we sat on the porch and the kittens felt the nice warm breeze for the first time.

The girls are the same size as the males and both are vocal and bossy already. The tortie Malvina has a big cream splotch on her front paw and hidden red fur marbled into the black fur. She will be a very pretty girl. The seal point female is very cheeky, and tries to escape while being photographed. I enjoy their spunk and energy. Albina has splotches of white on her toes and she might have a white patch under her chin and muzzle but it is too early to tell.
Update July 4th 2015: Three weeks old.
This week they all opened their eyes and are seeing well. Here are some new photos. There are two twin male black mackerel tabbies and one black tortie female, and one colopoint female. Please accept my apologies for the poor quality photos. The kittens received a face wash this morning and are non compliant photography subjects at this age.
The color point female is called Albina. The largest female is a black tortie with a tan paw and she is called Malvina. The black tabby males are Tyomnii and Matvei. I'll probably nick name them Bina, Vina, Ty and Mat. |
Welcome to Styleena's Kitten Blog.
These four large kittens were born in the wee hours of June 12/13th. There are a pair of twin black mackerel tabbies, one very large colorpoint and one black tortie. All are very healthy and gaining weight nicely. Mama cat out of the old Starpoint lines with several Champion Russian born sires in her pedigree. I only have one litter of kittens to dote upon so I will be spending lots of time with these cuties. These kittens are the result of many years of breeding for low allergen qualities while maintaining good health and great personalities. Sire to the right is CFA Champion, Mr. handsome, Vanilla Sky Tamerlan. Tam is a friendly, well built and talkative cat. Stella aka Daisley Styleena is a brown torbie Siberian with a long body and has a particular adoration for dogs. I find her offspring all do well with dogs.. even big dogs. My Australian Shepherd mix "Bella" and Stella are good friends. They often sit in the living room and watch out the window together.
