Here are some updated photos. Calum and Granville are in socialization camp. Granville will work on being more gentle. He is a super playful kitten and very confident but still has some growing up to do before he can leave and be on his own. Photos below show him on the dining table helping me to write Christmas cards. Calum is learning to be more confident and relax more. They are getting non stop attention and love for the next 2 weeks. Tricky Woo has found his forever home already.
Sweet Calum will do best in a quieter home with a patient owner. Granville loves to play and will do best in a home with someone willing to get out the wand toy several times a day and wants a silly and active kitten. These are just my evaluations at this early stage in their life. Neither kitten has been placed yet.

This fun bunch is 10 weeks old today. On Saturday they go for their socializing with a family with children nearby. They are all very different. Calum is super sweet and loving. He is sometimes shy so the next 2-3 weeks will be great for him. Granville continues to be first to the toys and a very excited kitten. Tricky Woo is somewhere in between and an all round great guy. All three boys lick my hand and are affectionate. They come when called, jump at the wand toys and are purrfect using the litterbox. They really like cat trees and climb up high to go to sleep. When I enter their room they yawn and stretch and wander over to greet me then settle in for a game of untying my shoelaces. I am methodically going down the reservation list offering these kittens in order of when applications were received. Check your email! Go home date is Dec 31st.

The vet visit went well except Tricky Woo has a juvenile (probably innocent) murmur. He will probably outgrow it but he is now considered special needs and his price will be reduced. Granville and Calum passed with flying colors. Granville continues to be very very playful. He enjoys carrying around toys in his mouth and plays by himself.. a natural entertainer. Tricky is curious and climbs my pant legs to get to wand toys in my lap. (ouch). Calum is missing his mother terribly in this first week of weaning. We are giving him extra attention. All are enjoying wand toys with feathers at playtime.

I've adjusted the 'go home' dates for this group to give them more time to socialize and mature. I feel they need those extra 2 weeks. I want them to be confident and super affectionate in their new homes. Right now they love their mom, Hazelnut . They will be weaned in the next week and go to the vet for exams on Saturday morning. They start vaccines and deworming soon too. This group is all about feather wands and shoelaces. They like to grab my tennis shoes and bite my laces and kick the shoes with their back feet. Very cute! Granville and Tricky Woo like to climb into my lap and bat at feather toys. Calum is more shy still and very sweet. He will change after weaning. They are all coming when called to "Here kitty kitty" and to me tapping a dish of baby food. Calum will be stunning with his big blue eyes and white mittens. Granville will be a very busy kitty and need lots of toys. Tricky Woo will be very large and chunky. I slept in the kitten room this week and Calum was quite the snuggler.

Little cuties are running to me when I enter their room and gobbling up the Gerber Turkey or chicken babyfood stage 1. THey are also eating Tastefuls Blur buffalo chicken and rice kibble. These kittens will have a vet exam in 10 days and be weaned, and go to a foster family in Damascus for socialization. This will help them become confident and they will be handled a LOT by a loving bunch of experienced kitten wranglers. I've tentatively put down pick up Dec 17 but may move that a week longer depending upon how their development goes after weaning. Blue boy Tricky Woo makes a slight squeak when he is overwhelmed during nail trims. Otherwise he is the cutest little fatty. Calum remains passive but a real foodie. He loves climbing cat trees and sleeps up as high as he can for naps. Granville is a shoe boy.. loving laces and kicking with his back feet. He is very agile and athletic.

Below are the products I use here. I feed Blue Tastefuls kitten dry. (Keep the bowl full) and 3 types of litter I recommend. The Ultra Dr Elseys is a clay litter that covers odor well and if you choose clay litter I'd buy a metal litter scoop. The orange and green bags are Worlds' Best flushable litters. These are great if you want to keep the litter box in the bathroom (great idea) and then you can scoop the litter box frequently, and easily into the toilet. I usually put the litterbox (small) in the corner next to the base of the toilet. When kittens are very young and in their new home keeping them in a small room like a bathroom at night and when you are out of the house is a good plan. The prices at Amazon.com are unusually high so we try to buy from chewy.com. Chewy has toys too!

These three fluffy boys are very fun. Calum, Tricky and Granville are very playful and adventurous. They are enjoying the kitten room and climbing the toys, and batting around cat toys. Tricky likes the foil balls and carries them around in his mouth. All are eating kitten kibble and canned food now. They have fat round bellies. Granville is super 'foodie' and first to the food bowl. Tricky is the largest kitten and Calum is the most laid back. We are practicing being held in our laps. They are all 100 pct litter box trained and although they like to use the low kitten litterbox they also can climb into the big box and do their business. They are all progressing well.

Woohoo. We are out of the nest box and exploring the kitten room. The babies are eating small amounts of babyfood and using the litter boxes. We have very low training boxes so they can get in and out easily. Calum is still a bit shy and doesn't like new people yet. He wants his mom all the time. Tricky Woo and Granville run around and play in the toy tunnels and are starting to show interest in balls and toys. All are very healthy and bright eyed. They follow me around the room and play with my shoelaces. IT has been a very big week.

uThis week I'll cut a door in their box so they can explore the kitten room. More updates this week.

Almost 3 weeks old. Every day they are more mature. I am singing to them and getting them used to music on the radio. Because this is a small litter there is plenty at the milk bar (lots of nursing). Hazelnut loves her babies and the attention they get.. as long as she gets lots of love too. These kittens are having fun with each other.. lots of wrestling and rolling around. The black tabby male has beautiful spots on his belly. They will all be strikingly good looking even if now they are just little balls of fur.

One baby has his eyes open. The other two are getting extra face washes to help the process along. New photos this week when they open all the way. Mama Hazel is still very happy and protective. The lynx point baby was on his back last night and is so fat that he couldn't roll upright. He cried and waived his little legs in the air until I woke up and turned him over. It's wonderful to have them fat and healthy. They sleep in a box next to my bed.

Granville, Calum, Tricky Woo - Three male kittens. Named after James Herriotts' All Creatures Great and Small books/tv shows. These babies are 1 week old today. Eyes are still mainly closed and all they do is sleep and nurse. Mama Hazel is very protective and sleeps with them in a box right next to my bed. One kitten is a lynx point, one a black tabby and one is a blue tabby. Go home date is Dec 17th. I cannot ship cargo during the holidays but can board the kittens for a fee until Jan 1st. I can also meet folks at PDX airport.

Hazel surprised me with kittens born slightly before their due date by 1-2 days. They needed some help latching on to nurse and a few kitten formula bottle feedings. We have 3 adorable kitties. Details coming soon.
