... Barnabe helped me use the fax today to send copies of emails to Dr Christina. He loves the fax machine.. I could see his little mind getting so excited... watching it take in the paper and print it out the other side and the bells inside going ding ding ding...
. Eustoliia is moving to the master bath. Novinka sleeps on my desk where he can watch my toes which he jumps on in the morning. Barnabe tries really hard to get under the covers and purrs loudly... Annie sleeps in a ball at the foot of the bed. Barnabe is going to ride with me tomorrow in the car for a few hours.. just for fun.. in the front seat of course. Our community is experiencing some flooding right now and we are blessed to be on higher elevation. We will change to bottled water tomorrow and many roads have been closed. Barnabe is getting a nice routine of staying outside during the day and sleeping inside on my bed.. next to my pillow under the covers at night. He has been very persistent in his endeavors to try to get the older cats to 'play' with him. This morning he was jumping on Novinka and play-biting him.. and eventually Novinka got fed up and sat on the highest book shelf. It might be my imagination but Barnabe's coat looks more 'poofy' and slightly darker..
Today is paperwork day. Using the info on the links below I have asked the Cat Hospital of Portland to redo the rabies certs by hand to include more detail such as exp date of vaccine, lot, serial nbr, etc. It seems weird that the State of Hawaii wants them handwritten - I had thought previously they wanted them typed only. Oh well. things are easily redone. I am taking Dr Christina the current list checklist today for the 5 day or less rules and direct release on Maui just to make sure we are all on the same page. I called Portland Cat Hospital and they have received my email and will print it out for each of the vets involved. .. requesting the rabies certs be redone and mailed to me. I guess this is a learning experience for everyone. Barnabe doesn't care.. he is taking a nap.
(link below for 5 days of less program) (link below for direct release on Maui and other outer Islands) Barnabe has settled in nicely. His father, Anatolii, along with Novinka and Eustoliia have welcomed him onto the cat patio. Eustollia is in charge of all of the boys - and her bossiness keeps them all relaxed and submissive. There is no play fighting or anything like that .. just peaceful bird watching, playing in the water tubs - (one has goldfish in it) and taking naps cuddled together in the cat tree near the heater.
Here is a photo of the 12 x 14 patio. There is a cat flap into the house. You can see Novinka and Anatolii on the highest shelf. From there they can also see the school yard and all the buses and children and a frisbee golf course which is busy on weekends. It seems Barnabe likes to sleep cuddled in the nook of my elbow under the covers! He is such a lovely cat.. we are enjoying every minute of his visit. Friday he goes to the vet to meet Dr Christina and do paperwork for the move to Maui in June or July. **added weather on right column for cat patio. This week Barnabe met his mom - and watched her have a bath.. met his new siblings who are 5 weeks old. . and then met some guinea pigs, made friends with Ollie again the toy poodle... tried some dry food, met lots of new people and played on the outdoor patio. !! Big week!
Couldn't resist a baby photo to compare.... Poor Kol was under appreciated as a youngster.. now he is a handsome boy!
(son of Dori and Anatolii - formerly known as Kol)
Barnabe's owners are moving to Hawaii and so he will be staying with our family for four months as part of his mainland quarantine process. During this time we will chronicle his life for the benefit and entertainment of his owners and anyone interested! First night here he will be in the bathroom - with his bed and lots of toys.. He is already tired from the car ride and very happy to be held and look at himself in the mirror. Tomorrow we will meet some of the other cats that he has not seen for more than six months, play with wand toys and maybe read some books together! We are so happy to have him here! |
